Hello, i'm researching some information about canadian geese.
if one was to hatch them in an incubator but can not keep them once they hatch, is there a problem about who they consider to be their mom cause i know some bird species have a mom or someone they "latch onto" as in attachment...

I would think that you would need to sell them quickly so to avoid upset... Can a person even own Canadian geese legally?

Then I would think they would need to be sold quick or given away or whatever the case is so they can bond with whoever or whatever will be taking care of them. Geese aren't the friendliest creatures with strangers

You can keep them, but you would need a permit to have them. And I know it's a technicality, but they aren't Canadian geese, they are Canada geese. Any eggs would have to come from a legal source, it would be illegal to get an egg from a wild nest and they are protected by the federal migratory bird act. They can be transferred later and should adjust fine.

I"m just doing research for a paper.

Based on the above quotes:
If the question is "Can Canada goslings hatched in an incubator be released?" The answer is No (it is also illegal). They will follow random people and DIE.
They will imprint on "people" in general as goslings, not so much one individual. The imprinting behavior toward people wears off at about 6 months of age.

*Domesticated wildfowl purchased from permitted (legal) breeders may be kept legally as long as one has the proper permits.
