Canadians check in here....

Hello fellow Canadian chicken keepers or soon to be chicken keepers! I'm in the Montreal area of, you guessed it: Québec! I just joined yesterday! I am sure loving this site! It even helped me save one of my chickens once. How is everyone today?
Hi from Alberta. This is an incredibly difficult helpful site. In 2 months time I actually kind of know what I'm doing now I'm totally new to raising chickens but my girls seem happy and healthy so I must be doing something ok.

Hi there. I'm from Ontario. I am wondering if anyone has had experience with performance poultry or DC Heritage poultry ? Thanks.

I bought from perfor mance poultry for the first time this spring.

Pretty good experience. I purchased 35, I lost 6; 4 within two weeks and then another much later due to stunted growth. (the dog got the sixth)

I did get one breed mix up - I didn't order any sliver laced wyandotte but I have one in my flock. I haven't e-mailed them yet just to let them know, but it's no problem from my end.

I ordered all straight run and got a more-or-less 50% split. Heavy on the roo side.

They have a lot of returning customers, and can sell out of some breeds rather quickly.
I think they could have organized pick-up with a little more efficiency, at least when I went, but it was no big deal and she was very nice (though a little frazzled lol).

Here on Gabriola Island, BC. I have Buff Orpingtons and Light Sussex, honey bees and grafted about 100 apple trees, pear trees and plum trees Spring 2017.....sigh....another obsession.
I wish you were my way...I don't know where to get Scion for appletrees. We missed out on planting rootstock this fall because I wasn't sure where to get the scions I left it to the last minute
