Canary feeding formula

So I bought the kaytee exact hand rearing formula it tells me to 1 part food and 6 parts water ... however this is for parrots and not canaries however I've seen and I've been told people use it for smaller birds liek canaries however does anyhtong have to change or can I still do 1 part to 6 ?? Also is 1 part to 6 parts for example one table spoon food and 6 tbsp water ?
