I candled last night. I took out 7 eggs and when I cracked them to see if there was anything. I had one RIR that I should not have cracked but it was so hard to see with them.

I'm trying to not let my humidity get over 40%. I'm kinda trying the dry incubation. I'm also trying to take the lid off for about 10 minutes everyday to let fresh air flow and see if the advice in the FFA book works.

So we'll just wait and see.

I tell you getting these baby chicks have helps SOOO much with my patience!!!! It was probably a good thing I did because the bad RIR egg exploded when I got outside.

I hope I get a pretty good hatch rate but I know there are so many varibles. I remember when I ended up with 80 eggs in the spring I was paniced but when I only got 35 it was kinda of a relieve.

The babies are so much fun.

Plus the 18th day will be the day of my knee surgery so I won't be tempted to lift the lid many times. I just hope the RIR's hatch because the last time I just put them in the bator and left them only one hatched and my neighbor was very upset with me. He doesn't understand the varible.

Soooo Jackie, I'm gonna have to send you some eggs next week to make sure you lay around for a while. Let the DD know that I don't have any reds, but I'll sneak in some very colorful ones for her just cause . TTYL
