Candled at Day 6 (PICS)

[Heckel's Hens]

First timer here, with shipped Maran eggs.

I used my friend's candler and it seems that maybe 8 out of 12 eggs have a dark spot growing. The other 4 I'm not sure...they weren't obvious. What does this mean? Do I have a chance of at least getting one fuzzy butt out of this??

Nail biting commenced.

PS. Should I order some baby chicks that would hatch on Feb. 16th (two days before mine) so if only 1 or 2 marans hatch, they will have company?

8 out of 12 is pretty good, as for the others they could still be fertile it's hard with Marans as the shells are so dark.

You should expect at least 6 to hatch. Order more eggs hatching gets addictive you'll be overrun in no time, lol

Okay, Heckel's Hen, spill the beans! What are you using to candle those BCM eggs? I can see things in yours!!! Haven't been able to in mine...
