There was not a thing in the one leghorn egg when i candled today. however i'm not giving up on any of my baby;s i tried to candle thru the dominique eggs but the dark shell prevent both my flashlights to see thru. I cant even see thru the ee egg. However i think that the one i cant see thru dont want me to see in beacuse they think i'll be afraid of the progress their making. However i still couldnt be more eggcited and may i say that even if i get a 0% hatchrate that will not stop me from incubating in the future. infact very soon i'm testing out the bucket inator incubator.

if you do not have a very strong light, a very dark room and a very light colored thin shell (white) you will not see anything unless you are lucky, I wait till 10 days min.

thanx guys . . i will candle again on day ten but does that eman that the eggs will ahtch later than the day they were supposed too ??

Are they shipped eggs?
It seems like shipped eggs are not hatching well...
Also, marans eggs (very dark shell) are hard to see.
Don't give up. Check back at 14th day!

I usualy never candle chicken eggs before like 12/14 day, ducks 18 days.I use a LED mini light now and it work's great I used that on my jersey giant egg's, don't know about Maran egg's though never had those.DG

yes but they were harvested the day before they were set. They are 1 ee, two dominique ( light brown ) 1 leghorn , 1 ee x dominique ( dorkbrown )

I have almost 30 eggs set, and on day 8 I could only see something in 3 and they were the very light colored blue eggs! Good Luck!

with those eggs you will have a very hard time seeing before 10 days, unless your light is a vrey good one, and you have seen a candled egg so you know what you are looking for/at
