Ok everyone. It is day 7 on my first ever...litter? Batch? Brood? Anywho...I just candled and I have questions!
Some were very obviously doing well.

Others....had me confused. Lots of differences, but is that a blood ring at the top?

Then there is this one - which i would say is definitely a blood ring....right?

How about this one though?

Or this one?

This one looks pretty obvious.

But this one?

Thanks...Sunny

Candle them with the light source on the fat end. Then you can see the air cells. The air cell is what you are seeing in the second pic. I think I can see veining, but it isn't sure enough at this point, so put it back in. Fourth looks clear, but out it back in just in case. Fifth... I can't tell but I think I see a slight blood ring but it could be developing veins so put it back. I think seventh is a blood ring, but not 100% sure.

On the fat end? Ooops. Rookie mistake. All are back in for now.
Should i wait until tomorrow so they don't have fluctuating temps again so soon or do it right away?

Yeah I see several blood rings. It looks like you have a lot of saddled air cells. The lne with the red along the air cell is probably just a normal (I don't know what else to call it, not shadowing, but kinda I guess?) thing. I've seen it amd it's always been fine.

Pics 3 and 7 are blood rings for sure. I see at least 3 great ones.

Thank you MGG.
It is definitely a mixed bag in there. Sad about 3 and 7.
What is a saddled air sac? Is it bad or just an oddity?
It's common with shipped eggs. It can happen in local eggs too though. It generally fixes itself, but sometimes they can have it up to hatch. In my experience it's just an oddity. Detached air cells, however, can be bad. I've been fortunate enough to never have them with my shipped eggs. Its where the air cell detaches and floats around in the egg. None of yours have that though, so no worries. I'm guessing there are some threads on here about it. I've never looked, but there are threads about everything on here 😂

Thank you! I've been reading so much new stuff. What an amazing source this site is....and then there is all of you! I am so glad to have found this home.
