Candled eggs.. Is this normal?

Hello!
I am on day 23 of incubation.

When I candle my eggs.. I don't see much movement anymore and also the blood vessels are really prominent now.. Almost as if its stuck to the shell and they have leaked?
It's really hard to explain. I have included a photo but you can't see the big blood vessel clearly.



Is this normal for an egg at day 23?

I am sorry to say that does not look good or normal to me in any way. They ALL look like this? That just looks very bizarre, I'm not sure exactly what's happened in there.

Yeah most of them have the huge blood vessels that look like they are literally stuck to the egg!
I could cry.. hope they havn't died! :*(



About a week ago we noticed the Incubator was at 40 degrees. We brought it back down to 37 degrees. Do you think this could have caused it? ;(

Do you know how long it was that high? If it was that high in a forced air incubator, it's not good, especially if it was that high for any length of time.

It was about 5 days. My boyfriend tweaked it up from 36 and went to Cardiff with work. ( I have a visual impairment so cant see the thermometer),
He back back and it was at 40! Is there any chance they could survive? It's a Brinsea Octragon Incubator.

Being that high for 5 days...yeah, that absolutely could cook them. :/

Do you see movement at all in there if you hold the eggs really still? I know you don't normally see much at this stage, but are there any red blood vessels at all visible in any of them? You should still be able to see some between the air cell line and the dark blob that is the duckling. I don't see that in the pic.

I don't think it's likely they could've survived that long of a temperature spike though, unfortunately. The pic you posted does not look like a live egg to me. I'm so sorry.

I would keep them in and maybe candle again tomorrow to be sure? If you see any real movement from them at all by all means keep them in, but I just don't know about these guys.

Oh my goodness! Orca!!!

Sorry.. let me calm down. I think I see movement!!!!!

I just candled again and I saw a shadow move across. I am so blessed if they are still alive.

My precious little miracles. I am crossing my fingers!!!

EDIT:

I have candled them all and I have seen movement in two. I have seen shadows in the air sac. Do you think the others may be ok in this case? I can't see aby movement in the rest...

It's possible! Movement means life, after all! This is great news, and I really hope at least those two will pull through for you! Keep us posted!

I have just checked again (last time I will open the incubator!!).
One egg has started to crack in the middle and sort of gone soft .. but there is no hole as yet.

Could this be pipping?
