This is my second time incubating eggs and my first time incubating brown eggs. I understand that it can be difficult to candle brown eggs; however, I thought that this was pretty successful. The eggs should be on day 16 with 3 of them only being approximately day 13-14. I am curious for opinions/ thoughts on eggs 3 and 9, as these are both from the same hen. 3 is easily the darkest egg with fair bloom and 9 is speckled, which I think would likely make it more difficult to see veining. 9 looks as though it has begun developing, but possibly quit, while 3 looks as though it may have never begun. Not sure if this is an indicator of this hen's fertility, or just a random occurrence. There is no foul smell or indication that they are rotting, I just cannot see veins anywhere on these two eggs. Is it worth keeping them in the incubator, or do I toss them?

#3 is a clear, it will not hatch.

Since there is no smell you do not need to remove any of them. I would remove #3 just to make more room for lockdown. The fewer eggs you have in there the easier it is to keep track as they pip and hatch.

As many times as I have done this I would not toss any of the others. In your case you've only done this once before, no real experience. Take advantage of the opportunity. After the hatch is over open the unhatched eggs and see if you can see what is going on. That can help your understanding.

Good luck with the hatch. Let us know how it goes.

I removed it and cracked it open and it is obvious that the chick stopped developing very early on. Thank you for your insight, I definitely view each of these wins and losses as a chance to learn more!
