Candling button quail eggs...

I've read it can be done and I've read it's nearly impossible. Anyone have any experience doing this? I don't want to have the eggs out of the bator and risk problems if it's going to be a waste of time. Thanks,

I've candled my bobwhite quail and it worked well. I don't know if that's comparable. Hope this helps.

Well my experience since I just hatched out a batch of buttons is don't even bother LOL. I've been able to candle my bobwhites but not my pharaoh quail eggs. Now this batch of button eggs I had in there were so small and so dark that it was impossible for me. I say don't bother and just cross your fingers. That's what I had to do and all was well

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll try one of the lighter ones and leave the others alone.

Do you wash your eggs prior to putting them in the bator? I've read it shouldn't be done but a couple of mine have a little "yuck" on them and now I'm worrying about contamination.

Seems like all I'm doing at this point and worrying and wondering!
