I really need some answers! I haven't hatched chicken eggs in like 3 years. I finally did it again this year and its day two today. The temperature variations and ranges of my homemade incubator are from 36 grad Celcius to 39 grad Celcius, Humidity is 50% everything is great. Except for the eggs... well maybe. I candled the eggs today because I couldn't really wait for another two days, my eggs are white and light brown so u can see through pretty well. I saw a bunch of videos on youtube about how eggs on their second day are supposed to look like. In the videos, the egg yolk was darker and a little bit bigger while in my eggs u could see a really clear yolk with a tiny darker spot in the middle of it. I'm not sure if that's the embryo or if it just isn't fertilized? I candled 10 eggs 7 out of 10 had a darker spot in the middle of the yolk while 3 of them were completely clear like nothing is happening!!

I would expect them to be clear on day 2. I have candled on day 2 and even day 3 and they'll still be clear. Just wait until at least 5 days to candle again. Don't throw out any eggs until day 10. I had one that was clear on day 7, no veins or anything and it was a light egg so I could see through really well. I was going to throw it out onday 10, I had already marked it infertile. I candled on day 10 before throwing it out, and ut was fertile and growing! So give them lots more time. The dark spot is normal, I've seen it before. Some don't have it, but some do. It isn't an indicator of fertility though. Give them more time.
