Can I candle an egg with a powerful flash light. And will a light too powerfull harm the egg ( may be a stupid question but need to know). When is the best time to candle the eggs.

Most people candle at 7 - 10 days - the light will not hurt the chicks but high heat will - make sure the light does not get the eggs to hot

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a high quality flash light that is VERY bright and it can be warm but if I do it quick and hold it far enough away it won't be very hot it is LED. It should work good. If I place a egg on the top of the light I can see it very well I just have never tried it with fertile eggs and don't want to harm them. If that was the case I would have left it unknown and just left them.

That sounds like it should be just fine. An LED does not get as hot as other types. Just do it as quickly as you can. I agree with other poster, generally people candle on days 7 or 10, and 14, then at lock down on day 18.
