My eggs are at day 3 (almost 72 hours) of incubation. If I were to candle now, would I see much? Be able to determine fertile from non -fertile? Thanks!

If you have very light coloured eggs, a very bright light, and you really know exactly what you're looking at and looking for, then yes, you could. But if you're new to candling and not sure what's what, then probably not. If that's the case, then I'd suggest you wait until at least day 7. I never candle before the 6th day, as even with white eggs and a fair bit of practice, I'm still not sure if they're fertile until I can actually see the little black dot that appears near the end of the first week.

After 3 days of incubation if you have light colored eggs and a good flashlight you can candle in the dark and actually see veins. The next night will be easier to see and so forth. Check out videos on youtube.com on candling

A majority of the Youtube vids show vessels by the fourth day. I am on 3 rd day and nervous. I do not see any now, and cannot imagine that much life growing in the next 24 hours.

It takes a very good light, and a very very good eye to see anything at day 3.... best waiting till day 7 to 10...

Candeling to early, and not really knowing what to look for can cause unnecessary worrying that the eggs are dud..

Good luck for your hatch
