I candled today at Day 10 with silkies. One of the eggs has what looks like one long, dark, thick red line through it. It doesn't form a ring and it doesn't smell. There is no sign of actual chick development in there so I doubt it is going to go any further but I was just curious....What is the thick red line?

I had what I thought was a bloodring BUT there were also veins all around it as well. I'm keeping it.

Is it completely clear except for the red streak? If so, then it's likely early embryonic death. If there are any veins, I'd definitely keep it for a while and keep watching.

I don't see any veins in there, but it doesn't smell so I am going to wait and candle again in a few days.
