Canker getting worse

Hey guys, so my beautiful girl has canker for about 3 months now and by the day it's getting worse, the accumulated canker in a lump under her beak is getting bigger. She's even started to eat less and spill out the food she's been taking in. We took her to the vet like 2 months ago but I live in a rural place with no specialists and I'm not even sure what the vet gave her but it didn't help at all (guess he had no clue either).

I've been researching for some time now and got metronidazole pills like ppl say it's the best medicine. (I know the infection never fully goes away). But I'm confused how should I give it to her? Scrumble a pill and give it to her in water or in food? What's the best method? How many days?

She's 5 years now and about 2 pounds but getting thinner.

Pls help me, I don't wanna lose her

Cut the tablet in half with a pill cutter and give her half the tablet orally, wear disposable gloves when giving it to her. Give her one 250mg tablet in the morning and one 250mg tablet in the afternoon (cut in half both times.) Do this for 5-7 days. Canker can spread via waterers. To prevent this, mix acidified copper sulfate in water and provide it once a month for your birds.
