Cannibal Chick Vampires, help!

I'm sorry that you lost it.

Can you please clarify? You mention that you added a red lamp, but then you mention that "the hens" offed the chick?
Did you put the day old chicks with Hens? Are any of the hens broody?

Photos of where you are keeping them would be good.
LOL, I had 10 day old chicks. 2 nasty ones. I put 1 nasty with broody Astralorp. 1 nasty with the broody silkie.
Astralorp and others killed her nasty.
Silkie abandoned her nasty. I took her nasty 15 minutes ago and stuck it in a grow out pen with some 3 week old chicks. Nasty is too small to peck their eyes hopefully.
The worse offender is now dead, so I hope the problems will be solved.

All 8 day old chicks in the original brooder, are happy. They are eating, drinking and sleeping like normal chicks now that the killers are out.

Like I said, is this a mental problem, is it hereditary, or could it be a vitamin deficiency?

Just for the sake of curiosity, because I don't think I saw this in earlier posts, but how did you introduce the two chicks to the broody hens? At night while she was sleeping?

Chickens don't react well to being thrown into a pen with each other. I'd keep an eye on the one remaining chick. As other member's suggested, I think it would be a good idea to partition off part of the enclosure so the others can see her but not peck her. At least for a day or two. Based on the information give, that would be my first move.

Yes I put chicks under broody Astralorp hen last night 🌙.
And like I said living chick is now in a brooder with 3 week old chicks and they are teaching it some manners.

I just hatched some Bielefelders and they are sweet birds doing great, however I only got one female. So I ordered females from Cackle Hatchery and they came this morning. Today has been a horrible day. 😢 Anyway I heard squabbling and screeching so I went to see what was going on.
Their are 2 possibly 3 chicks that are pecking the eyes, face of the other chicks and...eating it!:sick What the heck?!? The chicks now have bloody faces! I have never seen this on all my life. I've only had them a few hours not even a day. I gave them 22% feed, scrambled eggs, and I just put vitamins in their water. I spent a ton of money on these chicks do I need to cull them? 😭
Sounds like you just threw the new ones with the old ones. They could tear them up in a day. Best thing is remove them immediately and put them in another pen. Even put the pen in sight of the other birds so they get used to them.
