My chicks are 3 weeks old. It stated a week ago. I noticed that chicks were going after one little female chick's tail and the chick couldn't walk. Holly cow, what I saw, I almost puked. All her behind was open and bloody. She was almost eaten alive. Its been a week, and I have 15 chicks with eaten tails. They start pulling each others tails and when the blood shows up, they get wild, and start eating flesh. What to do? I'm puling my hear. Is there a way to brake them from not eating each other? They have plenty of food to eat. I raised little chicks many time, nothing like this. This is wild to me. Don't know what to do.

They have a lot of space, they are outside in the fenced area. Also they are on a high protein feed. I have 65 of them.

Agree, they need more space. When animal start turning on each other it's a classic sign of over crowding. Best of luck, I'm sorry this is happening to you.

Is it one breed or another that seems to be more aggressive? Anytime, which has been rare(*knock on wood*), our birds have even fought, we make sure we have the time to put them back together and watch who the aggressor is, that bird(s) will be removed...Some just won't play nice...Some change when they grow up...Some just have to go.......
