I love the name Synnøve. He’s a Fjord, so it seems really fitting to have a Norwegian name for him.

I will always love the barn name of "Ari". Our Ari was a registered Arabian a light red bay. His sire was VP Charade, dam was Chaunter's Ayre. Ari's registered name was LP Ayre Games.

However, over the years, we found that a horse or pony would start "becoming" their barn name. Ari, as a yearling carvorting around a 3 acre pasture, fell spread eagled. MONTHS of therapy and lameness through both stifles. He DID heal, our youngest started him under saddle, he was sold. New owners didn't let us know they sold him. He ended up in OK, kicking butt in barrel racing w/ a youth rider... They contacted us at one point. We so enjoyed hearing he was doing so well.

SORRY to steal OP's thread! Looking forward to pics & name of your Fjord. My husband & I rode Fjords at a riding stable SE of Nurenburg, GE when there - 1988-1992.

We managed to own 3 Arabian mares & 1 - 1/2 Arab/Saddlebred mare. Produced an Arabian mare & gelding, 4 - 1/2 Arab/Shetlands from them. Produced a 1/2 Arab/Hackney pony & purchased a 1/2 Arab/Shetland mare that was 1/2 sis to our Shetland stallion out of an Arab mare.

That was when I sold enough ponies or breedings to just keep our hobby in the black... i worked for our mobile vet's boarding barn to cover 5 acre lease to keep our ponies/horses on. I made a lot of our equipment & almost all of our saddles (western & huntseat) were purchased used. I did 95% of my own training, taught lessons, started the girls from1997 to 2003 - then they were all 3 riding under 2 other instructors for huntseat/jumping. From 2004 to 2012 we did trail riding & dabbled in beginner endurance rides. Our Arab mares all wore pony sized bits & wore yearling sized halters...

I like to think our daughters enjoyed growing up that way, but middle daughter always "carping" now about how I "drug" her to horse shows every weekend for years (2-3 per year for a few years) & she always got sick (she did during summer ones)... sad...

Youngest rode w/ a friend of mine for 2-3 years. They went to barrel races & placed often enough @ jackpots to cover most expenses.

Our oldest & her husband & 2 granddaughters are currently on my mom's 21 acres in MT. They are talking about getting horses again, but are not real sure they can afford it... Also, I & our youngest did most of the training on all our stock. They either need already trained horses or to be working w/ an instructor. The 2 granddaughters rode my Shetlands on occasion & helped w/ feeding, but...
