Can't figure out what's wrong..

My hen has been acting strange for a week now. Ever since the big heat wave, I thought maybe she was suffering from the heat so I brought her inside overnight but it didn't seem to help. Right now she'll walk around and do things but has droopy wings kind of and it seems like when she's standing she likes to curl one foot up which she's never done before.

She also has runny white/green poop stuck to the feathers by her butt.
I checked her for lice/mites and didn't see any. She doesn't have any discharge by nose/eyes either. I'm not sure on her age because we got her from somebody but that was three years ago. Her comb is also pale. I can't remember the last time she layed, it was awhile ago. I figured maybe she was getting old but now with the abnormal poop I'm wondering if it's different.

A month ago I found her stuck on the roost one day and when I saw her she had white bubbles coming from her eye. Well they went away and never came back so I thought maybe she just had something in it?

I wormed them all with Wazine 4 days ago.

They had trichmonas about a month ago, wormed them for that too.

I don't know what could be wrong and she's a very sweet, smart hen so I don't want her to be sick or dying. Also I feed them layer feed, grit, oyster shell, and sometimes scratch (like mixed with their feed). They didn't have any bedding when she first showed signs of illness and now they have hay back again.

Oh I forgot one last thing, sometimes my flock does this "gaping" thing. I thought it was from the trichmonas since that is a symptom but they still do it. So I have some fenbendazole for gape worm but I don't want to just treat them with that if they don't have gapeworm. This fen. stuff is the kind for goats 100mg/mL what would be the correct dosage if I end up having to use it?

"The bubbles in the eyes are just another sign of an upper respiratory problem. If it goes through the flock slowly, it is probably infectious coryza or maybe Mycoplasma. If it goes through the flock fast, then it is probably a virus. Coryza doesn't necessarily smell bad - which is what you read in books in the description of "classic coryza." It depends on what stage of the disease you catch them. All this info I got from the extension poultry vet when my flock was sick. You can treat with antibiotics - Sulmet or Tylan for coryza; I'm going to have to look up what the avian vet I talked to recommended to cover both coryza and mycoplasma."

This quote is what I found when I did a quick search (use that search window!!). I've always read that bubbling from the eye area meant respiratory issues. Whether it's something severe or something more minor, I don't know. Possibly the heat wave exasporated the issue, you know, because it was hard on many birds' systems. And things like that seem to hit harder on chicks and older birds. I'm a big fan of Tylan 50 myself. You can try injecting her in the breast (alternate) with it for at least three days (1 cc I believe, but use the search to find the dosage for sure, because it's been a while since I used it and so I may be mistaken). You can get 1/2 insulin needles from any pharmacy - they keep them behind the counter.
The tylan 50 won't hurt anything - whether it helps your bird or not I don't know. But I'll keep my fingers crossed for you...

I agree with Teach1rusl. You're most likely dealing with a respiratory disease or a reoccurance of canker. If your birds had gapeworm, they'd be dead by now. Canker requires monthly treatments of copper sulfate or metronidazole to keep it in check. Canker is a protozoa, not a worm. Look for yellow/cheesy looking growths in their mouths/throat, that can be the cause of gaping. If they're clear, then it's a respiratory disease and follow Teach1rusl's advice.

My little red hen showed those signs almost exactly 1 month ago before she died. Another person on BYC had the exact same problem with her hen. It seems to be a mystery exept for the possibility of worms. I found a dosage guide...

.2 ml for my smaller banty chicken (2 to 3 pounds-ish)
.4 ml for my 4 to 5 pounds-ish hens
.6 ml for my larger girls -- about 6 to 7 pounds-ish

I hope she makes it and doesn't turn out like mine.

Thanks everyone for the help. I'll have to see what I can do. I just went out and looked at her and her poop wasn't really as runny or sticking to her bottom as much. Maybe the worming helped some. I'll update what I end up doing!
