cant find baby chicks anywhere this year??

It's sad that people are panic buying because of egg prices. I worry about the care of the chickens once many of the owners realize how much work needs to be done to keep adult chickens.

Check Craigslist for chicks or order some hatching eggs from a hatchery or eBay and hatch them out yourself.

Best of luck!

If you can't find any from the hatcheries, look on Facebook! They have a ton of FB groups for raising chickens. I found someone (literally 12 mins from my house) who raises some spoiled chicks. Haha! It might not be as cheap as TSC, but the convenience and the comfort of knowing they're not traumatized when they first get home make it worth it.

Hey just wanted to add, that it seems like this has been getting better as of recently! Every time I go to TSC there is a good number and it seems the hatchery wait seems to not be as long. My october chickens were able to be moved up to June 2nd since they had some people back out, and every day that I check it seems like every day there are more available earlier. So seems like whatever was causing the issues has at least plateaued.

I would call your Tractor Supply every morning or every other morning and ask if they have any baby chicks in stock and what breeds/sex are they and they will tell you. If you decide they have the breeds you would like, drive down immediately and pick some up.
Likely a hatchery wouldn't be an option. I ordered mine in February and all hatcheries were sold out until mid July to early August.
If all else fails, get an incubator and hatch some of your own if you have a rooster.
