Second time I've set some and no such luck. All my mutts and americana hatched fine but just cracked RIR egg open and dead chick with a nickel size piece of yoke left. Anyone else have trouble ? I still have some in incubator that are very dark when candled so I'm giving them maybe another day

Don't know what the problem could be if the others hatched...How old are the girls that are laying? Sometime you need to wait a bit with pullet eggs..I just had a hatch of 26 out of 29 with my RIR's..

I too am having trouble, but with my Buckeyes. I have 2 incubators both at 99.5. Humidity is good. One bator has automatic turner. The other is for 3 day before hatching. I had 46 eggs and so far none have hatched. I have thrown out abot 15 already and broken open 4. 2 have had totally formed chicks, 1 was just egg, the other had something about 1" big. I hatched 7 turkeys last year so I have had success. . HELP please.

About 2 years old. I'm puzzled also. Those are the eggs I wanted to hatch the most being pure breeds. Oh well

Well pulled the plug on the last 6 eggs. Broke open and 5 out of 6 had chicks that were cold to the touch and dead. Don't know why it happened but that's life i guess. We hatched out 12 on day 22 and 3 more on 23 so it's not like conditions weren't right. I can't see certain breeds (of chickens)taking longer than others. Don't know if I want to try another batch of RIR's but will hatch some of my EE's. Had 100% on them and about 95% on the mutts. Will be interesting to see if my broody can do better with the RIR eggs

Well after taking with my uncle(been raising pheasants since I've been alive=38 years) and he thinks my humidity was to high. Which I'm going along with because some of my chicks that hatched were pretty moist so I think my RIR drowned. I've been reading up on dry hatch method
