I made a homemade incubator out of an Omaha steak styrofoam box. I can't get the temp up. It's been at a steady 97 for a few hours. I'm testing it out before we get the eggs so there is nothing in it right now. The humidity is 57%. How do I get the temp up. I tried a slightly higher bulb and that made it go into the 110's

You need a thermostat or dimmer switch with the larger bulb.

With a dimmer, you will need to constantly adjust due to changes in room temperature and humidity. It might be okay if the incubator is in a basement where temps don't change.

With a thermostat, you can have a life...the thermostat will switch the bulb on and off as required to maintain the set temperature.

I purchased a dimmer like you suggested first. It did the trick. I have been steady at 100. Thanks
