So yesterday we finally attached the coop to the pen. They were all outside ALL day yesterday and then when the sun started to go down they all marched up the ladder and into the coop. it was the cutest thing ever. They are 10 weeks old and 18 weeks old.
So today we were very excited and we opened the coop door and as I was putting water out in the pen they all marched down the ladder to greet me but when I went in the house to do some chores, they all went inside.
Every time I go outside, they come back out of the coop and when I go back in the house they march back up the ladder and into their coop???

Will they ever figure it out and stay outside?

They are copying you

Maybe if you stay out they will too. JK

They will learn, maybe put some fresh salad greens out for them? Hang a cabbage from a string above them is a fun "toy"

Mine are 12 weeks and stay in a lot during the day but are out in the morning and evening. I think they prefer the shade; the coop is quite breezy.

Thanks everyone... its so sad lol we were so excited to have given them FREEDOM and they wont take it.

It sounds like they are playing a game with you and they most likely think you understand this and are playing as well.

Very cute. I have one that will "chase" me around the tree.
