I got a fairy egg yesterday and am so excited that one of my fall chickens could be starting to lay.
Only problem is, I can't remember if this ONLY happens at the beginning of lay, or if older girls do this sometimes too.
The only birds I have that lay white eggs are my Buttercups. This was laid in a pen of almost year old birds. ( But everyone was free ranging at the time) All of the newer birds are in other pens and I don't think any of the new girls are supposed to lay white. All the light eggs in the bowl are actually faintly cream and bantam's.
Thoughts?

Who is laying this very tiny egg??
I'm not sure. I have 11 girls that are used to using the two nest boxes in the pen where it was lain. Two standards and two bantams have been laying for a couple of weeks. In the pen adjoining them are 4EEs, 1 Welsummer and 2EE bantams. I can't imagine any of the other flock going in that pen to that nest box.
