Can't tell if hen or roo?

Yes they are half chocolate and half black orpingtons; the lady I bought them from said the mama hen was chocolate and the papa hen was all black

Do some research on breeding chocolate and black orps and you will find that that lady sold you barn yard mixed birds. They are pretty birds, but their coloring is partridge. Black/chocolate orps would not produce that coloring.

The one in the foreground of the group shot looks very much like my pullets resulting form Lavender Orpington rooster over Buff Orpington hen. I have several of these-as chicks they are really pretty, mahogany overall with brick red faces.
