My Old English Game Bantam Pullet (Bertie Mae) is acting funny. She's standing in one place with her wings kinda drooped and she nods off. I've been expecting her to lay any day now... But I just lost a chick yesterday to a sickness. She was standing the same way at first. I did pick her up and I can feel something in her lower abdomin that feels like an egg. Her vent looks healthy but a little swollen. Does this sound like normal first egg behavior? She's normally a quiet bird and she's extra quiet today. I just want to make sure and if she is sick get a jump start on trying to doctor her. And if she is laying but having trouble I'd like to help her out. I really don't want to lose another one!

Well ok! The second I hit send an egg plopped out! Whew!! And YAAY!!!!! How exciting!!!!! It has a thin shell. Is that normal for a first or should I make sure she gets more calcium?? She's just standing in the same place. She looks plum tuckered out.
