We are new to chickens but everyone excited! 8 and 5 year olds committed to cleaning and feeding. Wife a willing back up. Next steps scrounging a neighborhood construction site for good lumber and maybe even a metal roof!

a new home for laying egg's .......




Enjoy all your poultry ventures and having the something the whole family can work on together terrific ,,, My Grandpa taught me what I know about chickens back in the 1960's and I tought my kid's and grand kid's and really that is life is at the end nothing but memories so my hat is of to you teaching you children and giving them a lifetime of memories ....

Welcome to BYC! I'm still excited about raising chickens even after having done it for over 50 years. Make sure you build that new coop predator proof. Use hardward cloth, not chicken wire as there are just too many predators that can either tear through chicken wire or pass through the openings in the mesh. Good luck in getting your flock.
