Can't wait to start hatching soon! Anyone else with 10/14 hatch day?

Looked in the bator and noticed the partridge silkie was pipping - went out of the room and returned to find it had hatched! Yeah! Another Silkie!

Today is Hatch Day! I only had one hatch today. The rest hatched yesterday and Weds. Still waiting for the rest of the clutch to hatch - there are 3 orpingtons and 9 silkies in there - not sure what will happen. Don't see any pips or movement. Hard to know if there's anything going on. This is the tough stage...do I leave them alone or check them. I am going with leave them alone. If they are developing - they'll hatch on their own if it's meant to be. If they aren't developing, then that's fine. It's just so hard not to rush in there and check!

I always cheat and candle them cuz I cant stand it! LOL I have to know if there is a potential hatcher left.

Well I'll peek in the bator tonight and tomorrow morning - thankfully we'll be at a swim meet all day tomorrow so I won't have the added stress of checking every few seconds. When we get home I'll check again. I figure I'll leave them until Sunday after church and then check the eggs and clean it out. I think by that time they will have hatched if they were going to.

If you candle them - will it hurt them at this stage? I don't know if I could do it fast enough not to lose humidity and temp levels.

If your in lockdown then , not a good idea to open bator! Lockdown means just that LOCKDOWN.

I know, I don't even like taking out the early hatchers - I do it - but I think it can compromise the rest of the clutch. I'm giving them until Sunday after church - then I'll candle each egg and see if I can figure out what went wrong. I didn't have a good idea of the numbers going into lockdown b/c of the darkness of the eggs and lack of candling skills on my part. So the rest may very well have not developed far enough to hatch. We'll see - but you're right - I am not opening the bator until Sunday - I'll just keep peeking in the window repeatedly
