Cape Cod vacation?

This is the worst weekend for that sort of thing. Everyone is on vacation. Think at this point if you wish to book a vacation weekend on the Cape, it should probably have been booked in early spring. One of my techs from NJ tells me that the entire Cape May area has been booked solid since March, because people who used to go overseas for their vacations have decided to stick around and do cheap stuff.

Seriously, I commute to Cambridge, taking the MassPike, which is normally a 60-90 minute drive in rush hour. This past couple of weeks, the "last family vacation before school starts" weeks, it has been 35-45 minutes instead because everyone's on vacation.

Have you thought about going to the North Shore area? They've got beaches too. Some cute little towns with clam shacks and lobstah rolls and all that. That's where DH and I usually go for beach days, there are some nice bed and breakfasts although you might be outta luck for pools.

I'm bummed that I'm sitting here with a bad cough, and the kids have had fevers off and on all week. I really wanted to get to the coast this weekend, just to see the surf from Bill blowing by.

Oh well, terrible weekend traffic-wise anyway ...

It is all expensive on the cape. Hyannis these days is a dump unless the house is on the water and you don't have to go into town. I find it dumpy looking and extremely commercialized looking. down brewster way, chatham, harwich, eastham still retain that old feel but again are expensive. 100 a night or more for hotels motels at this time of the year. There are campgrounds , plenty of them. Bourne, ( but again too crowed, commercial)wellfleet, provincetown, falmouth just google the campgrounds. There are lots

Not many people I know can afford a $35 K rental masion on the beach but our taxes are paying for one right now. according to reports he is paying "his fair share" WTH is that?

edit: to change to the correct amount
