Hello all.
We have finished our coop and just need some hardware to put thru the holes in the Harrell bolts that keep the doors closed. Will caribiners be ok or can raccoons figure them out ?

Thank you!!

Carabiners should work fine. If your raccoons figure those out, you have bigger problems than worrying about your chickens ;)

What is a Harrell bolt?

Carabiners should be fine.
Tho I've heard some say no.... that if an 8 year old human can undo it, a coon can.

Auto correct! Supposed to say "barrel" bolt
Ohhh, haha!...most barrel bolts don't have a loop to put a carabiner or padlock thru.

I am planning on using something like these on mine.....a locking 'biner.

That should work....if you can fit it on past that second flip latch......keyed padlock might be cheaper tho.
Just hang the key right there, don't think coons can work a key.
