Thank you. I know two of the packages will be a few days late lol they all had to go out to the west coast area. Yesterday was the cut off for priority mail to get there on time. I made sure to get my MILs there on time my mom and grandma won't care. It was a lot of work , I bit off more than I could chew this year lol. I am glad it is done. I say I'm not gonna make any more quilts for awhile but it seems like quilting is like hatching eggs. Soon as you put the sewing machine up (or the incubator) you start thinking of what you can make (or hatch) next

Your quilt is beautimus! I especially like the subtle log cabins. Keepsake Quilting's most recent challenge is Log Cabin. I'm gathering info on everybody else's take on that block. You are a talented lady! Caroline

The quilts are lovely. I love Cardinals. We don't have them here in CA but when I go back to NC for a visit I start looking for them.

Hi, thank you for the compliments. I had fun making them. I had made a quilt in the winter of 1999 (I think) that was called Cardinals in the Cabin. It was a green and off white log cabin block with the center of the block a gold color. That quilt also had cardinals on it but it had a rectangular (strip-pieced) border with different widths of rectangles in it.
There wasn't a star log cabin block pieced into the center like this one and the cardinals were different but I always wanted to make another one that would be a little different. So this time, I went with the star log cabin theme and kept cardinals in it and added other crazy blocks lol. I still have that old quilt although it is somewhat faded now lol. I have some photos of it if anyone wants to see that one. I can't remember where I got the pattern for the old quilt. I am thinking it was a McCalls quilt magazine but have never been able to find it again.

I am planning the last Star Log Cabin Cardinal quilt, that I am making for myself, to also have a large poinsettia basket in the center with the cardinals (whenever I finally get around to finishing it lol).
