Caring for injured duck - any advice plz??

At least you gave him some good last days of solid meals and paddling around in the pool without being harassed by all of the others. You did good even though it's hard to think so when you have to put them down.

Just keep telling yourself that without you, he would have died being beaten up on, or starved to death because of the worms.

Now he gets to peacefully drift off to sleep without the pain he was in before.

Thanks guys, your thoughts and comments are much appreciated. I was a bit of a mess yesterday, all over a silly old duck from the park

I only had for about a week, but when you are caring for an animal and willing them to be OK, and put so much time and effort in I guess it makes it a bit harder when you have to accept defeat. But yes, Duck's last days were in relative peace and quiet, he did have to put up with us and our curious staffy, but he didn't even seem to mind her too much. Not to forget the yummy watermelon and strawberries he got to have. Hubby was a bit miffed... "You never buy me strawberries!" I did point out if I'm this nice to an old duck, imagine how good I'll be to you in your old age!

Anyway, if nothing else, Duck's presence in our house will bring about the introduction of our back yard chickens a bit quicker, we've been talking about it for ages, and now I'd say will more than likely it include a couple of ducks as well (they were promised by hubby in an effort to make me feel better, to which I replied "But that doesn't help Duck does it?!" Poor man, he was trying). So I'm sure I'll be back for more information in the not too distant future. Thanks again,
