im wondering if there is any special way you care for eggs before setting them, storing them in a certain temp, turning them, not handling much? do you keep them in same position as layed or put them in a carton big end up? are chicken and turkey eggs cared for the same?

I do not have a lot of experience but here is what I did when I was saving up eggs to hatch. I put them in the incubator and only turned on the turner until I was ready to start incubating. That way I wouldn't forget to turn them while waiting for the rest. I read on here it is good to turn them even before starting incubation. I have also read that they should be stored in a cool area (like around 60 degrees). I didn't really worry about the temperature, I just kept them in my dining room which wouldn't have gotten over 75 degrees. Always store and set eggs large end up if you are planning on hatching them. I can't answer your turkey egg question with other than a guess that they would be handled the same.

Since you are looking for a little more advice here is a little more that I have learned while reading threads on incubating. Do not wash the eggs since you want to leave the protective bloom on them. Turn the eggs at least three times a day just like when you do while incubating them. I wouldn't handle them much and I like to wash my hands at least before handling them to lessen the chances of getting bacteria on them. I also like to write the date I collected them on the large end of the egg in pencil. That way you know how fresh they are. I have read not to use permanent marker to mark them so that the chemicals in the marker don't get into the egg. Hope this helps and good luck on your hatch!

What I do, is sit them in a carton ,pointy side down, and let sit for 12 -24 hours..then place in a bator..if hand turning, I turn them
3 times a day..when I place them in auto turner..I set that for every 90 minutes

Goodluck

Oh and like others would say..I don't wash them

ok so when turning am i turning completely, like pointy side up? then back to pointy side down again, and so on?

You turn them side to side. If they are in an egg carton for storing until you are ready to hatch, put a board or something that is an inch or so tall under one of the long sides of the carton. Then just change sides two other times so you are doing it a total of three times a day. Basically you are "rocking" them side to side.
