Carnivores Waking Up

My nepenthes still wont produce a pitcher. New leaves popup and form a bright green leaf and get a little tendril. The tendril gets an inch or 2 long then dries up. I am misting the leaves at least twice a day and new leaves keep coming but the tendrils dryup
or are just staying a couple inch long.

How long does it take pitchers to develop?

Nepenthes, imo, are the least rewarding CP because of their special needs. No pitchers on a nepenthes is either too lil humidity or too lil light. Neps need lots of light and a constant higher humidity to grow at their best.

Now you can acclimatize them to lower humidity but it may take anywhere from a month-3 or more before you see a pitcher.

How much light is it getting and what type(sun, fluorescent, etc)? If you have an aquarium it might be worth putting it in there so you can give it higher humidity.

I grow nepenthes in full sun outdoors here but luckily my humidity is just naturally high here.

Coastal temperate rainforest and about 5 miles from the ocean. The nep is inside though and gets only a few hours of direct sun. I was considering placing it in the greenhouse but have been afraid to in case it gets too cold. Since the cold season is over for now maybe it will do fine.

I get full sun from 10 am till 5 pm with a burst from 5:30 till 6:30 the 2 weeks before and after summer solstice.

I think the best bet for now is put it in aquarium in the window and throw a t5 stick over it with the timer on 9-5.

Another reason not to put in greenhouse, spider mites!

If youre having pest problems id use imidacloprid. Its a systemic insecticide that works from the inside of the plant out. I think the bayer brand insecticides have it. I like it and its all I use for pest just a couple times a year.

Your plants look healthy otherwise. Nice capensis!

A few seedlings. About to start transplanting these to 2.5 inch pots.[br][br][br][br][br][br][br][br][br][br]

Wow those are awesome plants! Do you sell them of are they just a hobby for you?
About two years go I bought a Drosera capensis and some type of Nepenthes which died pretty quickly. I suppose where I live Nepenthes don't grow easily haha. But the sundew did quite well. In the first winter it lost most of its leaves but in spring it sprouted another plant. A while later both plants flowered and I got quite a few seedlings. Now winter here is slowly coming to an end and my two big plants are starting to come back to life.

This is my original sundew that I bought two years ago. During this winter it has lost all its leaves and pretty much "died". But now there are two new plants growing out of its stem.

The two circled plants are two which I made from leaf cuttings. They are much younger than the seedlings around them but are already bigger, :D

This is the second sundew that sprouted from my first sundew after winter. It managed to keep all its leaves during this inter but they look pretty miserable

A close up of my healthiest leaf cutting sprout. Winter had almost no effect on this little guy.
