Carpenter ants - HELP!!!!

I killed six carpenter ants in my living room tonight! I haven't seen them in the house before and haven't seen them outside. What should I look for outside or in??? I can kill them if I can find where they're getting in.

I found some today inside too. Have you had alot of rain? Usually if you find carpenter ants you're in trouble; there's a nest in the wood somewhere. We've had alot of rain so I'm *hoping* that they are just trying to find dry ground. If it dries out and I still see them, I'll call an exterminator. The sooner you find the nest and get rid of them, the better.

Is there a tree overhanging your house? They could be coming to visit via the tree...otherwise, make the call.

Yes, we have several trees overhanging the house. What should I look for? Will there be a line of ants or just a few?

We had them a couple years ago. We tried all sorts of stuff to try and get rid of them ourselves. Didn't work...

Just bite the bullet and call in a professional. It'll save you money in the long run. They have the goods to take care of them the first time and usually guarantee their work if they should ever happen to come back.
