Castor oil on egg-bound chicken?! Please help

As mentioned in my post a few days ago, my hen has been egg-bound for the past week. We’ve been giving her hot water baths, medicine from the vet and massaging her in downwards motions.

Does anybody know the effects of using castor oil externally and internally? I’ve read one or two articles that state it works, however I I’m worried it’s dangerous for chickens or will harm her even more.

I havent used it, so maybe i am no help. But i have read if you pop on a glove and rub some petroleum or KY jelly inside it can help. I did it once for a lady who i thought was egg bound too. She ended up not being egg bound (thankfully). But atleast i could confirm nothing was stuck.
