cat food

is cat food really bad for chickens? i got a case free today and thought I might feed it to my hens but I want to be sure it is not bad for them

I guess I wouldn't recommend it as a regular diet but as an occasional protein boost it's great. I know many people who show use it as a conditioning aid. The extra protein really helps feather developement.

i think i read somewhere that people give to hens that are going through there molt or as a treat, but i dont think its a healthy choice for there main food

. mine will come in and steal the cats food if i forget to close the back door
