Cat is killing my chickens, what can I do?

Malcolm... like your last name for sure. If the cat was feral, it can't be domestic! Even so, domestic or feral, if it killing my livestock it too will soon be gone. I have a e-fence, mainly to educate the goats,and a Maremma LGD for 24/7 critter protection. The Mareemma, Gandalf is his name, has even learned that large birds such as ravens, hawks, owls and eagles are not welcome. So, he will chase them off. No cats, other than the ones that belong here, no stray dogs, no coyotes, no skunks, no raccoons and no birds of prey are allowed. He has a side kick, a Brittany named Gurl, who helps guards the flock. If you a rabbit, she'll get ya!

I've had 3 cats, unknown until recently, killing my baby ducklings and baby chicks.. and this has been TERRIBLY expensive for me. Tonight, I just had two baby turkeys killed by one as well and this was inside a dog kennel that was outfitted with hardware cloth on the bottom and green poultry plastic fencing along the edges of the bottom as well. I have NO idea how this cat killed so many in such a short time, but by the time I placed them outside for the night and went back to check on them 2 turkeys and 9 out of 12 chickens were gone. Just incredibly infuriating. I'm going insane, because I feel like I'm spending all of this money on hatching eggs, and buying chicks, just to feed it to a feral cat? Absolutely not! And to think that I'm going to have mosaics and greenfire farm eggs hatching soon! This has got to be resolved immediately. I am not above poisoning these cats, at all. I am literally at my wits end. These cats have cost me over 300 dollars, for sure. Silkies, barnevelders, bresse, gold lace wyandotte, light brahmas, the new lakeshore eggers from Meyer hatchery.. sorry I just had to vent to someone who would understand and not judge me right now. My run is not 100% predator proof, but it is sufficient for toddlers and babies. We had never had a cat problem until recently. I have had chickens since last october, but this "toddler run" is a new addition. Perhaps, I need to just move them to inside the actual chicken house and when they are much larger let them out in the adult chicken run since the adult chickens will be used to them by then, and that will eliminate the need for the toddler chicken run. I can just use the "toddler chicken run" for the bantams, or for breeding if I get any high value egg layers and can sell those on ebay - should they actually survive long enough. lol

I just have to remove these cats from the equation, though.

A cat came into my yard and tried to kill my hen tonight I have even sighted the cat in my yard. People have told me as well, cats do try to kill hens and chickens. I came to this site for the best procedure to solvethe problem. I don't think I will get the answer here

I agree with all of woodmort's questions. It's very rare for a cat to kill a chicken, much less open a coop. I have raised cats and chicken together for 20 years, never had a problem. Seeing a cat in the garden is one thing- seeing it actually attack a chicken is another.

Can you give more concise details, please?
