Cat kills baby Rabbit

lol you should see people's faces when you tell them you feed your dogs raw meat ON PURPOSE. Lots of people are amazed that I haven't been eaten in my sleep

Thats my findings as well, although housecats do more sport hunting where ferals kill for food. We just rid ourselves of almost 75 feral cats in our neighborhood. I have rabbits everywhere now:D An old lady fed the cats, she passed away, someone made the cats disappear, thats all I know. They were 100% feral, some we have killed here were flat nasty and very sick, so sick we did not let our cats out! Mean too, im 40, weigh 185 pounds and I guess a redneck by most folks standards, and I have had to back away from a few over the years that would stand their ground hissing and what not. Ive seen them kill rabbits, grouse, squirrels etc and every bird they could catch.

I did save one a few years back...it was a kitten that I stepped on. I thought I broke its neck as its head was on the ground while its body lurched around. The next day it was doing ok, I named it "Crunch" after the sound it made when I stepped on it LOL!

Cats are amazing. I am counting down. Ugh.

I think Mr. Yackers moved to NC for his 10th life. Ingles sits around here and talks to himself, to the other cats, to the dogs, to us. The night I had to go to the hospital for fire ant bites, he was taking to the neighbor. She said he wouldn't stop talking. When she left and closed the door behind her, he was still talking, lol

Mr. Yackers never shut up! Even in his sleep.

My cats are all barn cats. While not feral, they're not all super, rub your legs and be friendly, tame type kitties.

They bring home grinnies, baby bunnies, squirrels, moles, baby groundhogs, everything. The only things that don't get eaten are the moles and the groundhogs. I've never seen them with birds, but I'm sure they get them.

Baby bunnies do cause a bit of drama around here, due to my kiddos, but they're simply told it's what kitties do. I don't like to see them get bunnies, either, but I can say I have absolutely no troubles with rabbits eating my garden.

Kitties do what kitties do. Make sure, though, that if kitty is eating a lot of wild game, that he/she is wormed regularly. Wild animals carry tons of parasites.

Blessings-
Em

We've had a few cats that kill baby bunnies. The first few times I saw the dead baby bunnies, when I was a child, I freaked me out. They ate them though or the dog would. Although on occasion they would leave their kill on the front step for us. That was mostly mice and birds. The infrequent garter snake as well. That's one of the reasons we have cats. Pest control. I love bunnies but I see it as the cat doing their thing. Natural instincts.

The only time I have seen our cats play with the mice was when our Brother and Sister, Pierre and Natalya, cats were teaching Nat's baby. They let him bat it around, throw it up in the air, and when he'd get bit and fling the mouse either Nat or Pierre would bring it back to him. Nat had a thing for the tiny baby hairless mice too. Never wanted to be around her when she found a nest of them. Not a nice sound to hear as she ate them. (Sorry, tried to make that too graphic!)

My siamese lynx, Kiddy, was gone longer than normal today -so my heart was aching. How conflicted I was when he came strolling back home with a live baby bunny in his mouth. He set it down to show me, and the bunny ran between my legs as if it wanted me to rescue him. Instead, I picked up Kiddy and began loving on him, but he only growled and tried to get out of my arms.
Then the cat and baby bunny chase ensued in and around a pile of sticks. After 15 minutes of it, Kiddy was tired of the chase, and decided to eat him, so he did.

How conflicted I am. I have to let him live free, and I will.
