This morning I found something had killed 2 ducks and ate them on TOP of the TRUCK, which was parked next to the house. I know it carried them up there quickly after killing them as blood had run down over the driver's door to the running board.

What do you think it was? I am quessing Owl(s).

I have gotten 12 raccoons in the last week, but that has been away from the house by the grain bins.

I will set a live trap on the truck tonight.

Yikes Randy!

It COULD be coons, but you would see little foot prints on the truck if that were the case. Owls sounds like a reasonable guess.

that looks like owl, or maybe hawk.

what were they? calls or young ducks?

a cat couldn't have navigated a slippery truck with that big of prey

I would put my money on it being an owl. That is the exact same crime scene that I found several of my chickens in many months ago. Same picture. I waited for the predator the next night and it was an owl. He was about to attack again but I was waiting for him with a shot gun. Wonder where that owl is today.

Thanks.

My experience has been that hawks only eat the brest. owls usually the neck.

Plus this would have happen at night, cause we just parked the Truck & trailer there at about 11 pm after moving some bulls.

But since it was on the vechile and next to the house, that is why I considered the possibility of maybe a cat. You would be surprized at how much a cat can carry and jump with it too. BUT I'm still thinking Owl.

Both were young ducks--- one mallard, one pintail.

After role call this evening- I noticed I am missing 2 more pintails, 2 snowy calls, 3 black east indies & I'm not sure how many mallards.

I just moved 4 muscovy hens with 40 some babies into an open top pen too.

I think it was racoon(s). They are expert climbers and due to the number killed..... and the way taken apart.

Just my 2 cents worth. Have had a lot of racoon killings here. Hope you catch whatever is doing this.
