Cat Poop Question

Best get him to a vet. could be any number of things, a cat that is loosing weight needs to have a complete vet check with a possible blood test to check for different illnesses.

My elderly cat was loosing weight and eating like a pig ended up she has hyperthyroidism.

Hope all goes well, keep us informed!

Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond. You answered my questions that I was unable find to online. It is getting to the point where he needs to see a vet. He seemed to be doing OK when I started buying dried food with 18% or higher fat. Now he is losing again. He just turned 10. The breeder told me that he was two at first, then five. When she sent me a copy of his papers, it was a surprise when it showed he was eight (and that was two years ago). He looked like a young cat when I got him but he has really aged. I am thinking he is hypothyroid. He has diarrhea, vomits, up most of the night and obsessed with food. His teeth seem fine since he can devour half a chicken breast in a fraction of the time that I can....Yet he is losing weight.

All those same symptoms can occur when a cat is diabetic too...just something to think about. Diabetes in cats is really common. Good luck and keep us posted!

What does his fur look like? It could be his kidneys too. Does it plate together? kinda looks like an accordion? not quite sure how to explain it....

From what I am reading, it is looking more and more like hyperthyroidism. He is up all night yowling, waking me up. All of a sudden he wanted nothing to do with me grooming him except around his head and chest. He turns around and either tries to swat at me or bite. His fur has started looking really rumpled and greasy. I had to give him a lion cut because of his getting aggressive so I attributed that to the lack of grooming. Other than that, he acts pretty normal.
