This morning I found my sweet little rooster's feathers scarttered about, next to the coop. I didn't find any other parts. In search for a body I found a group of feathers under the porch of another chicken (who I noticed was missing feathers a couple of days ago). This part of the porch is where our cats (and a new stray cat) hang out. Could the preditor be one of the cats?

It's possible especially if you have a stray cat around who may not be a pet that is fed daily. Most will claim to not have problems with pet cats or farm cats but a hungry stray could most definitely be a problem.

We live in the Blueridge Mnts. but close to town. Bobcats and foxes are a possibility, but what confuses me is finding the back feathers of one of my Easter Egger hens under the porch. She was obviously attacked but got away. My little roo was not as lucky :(
