It is wonderful that you got them all spayed/neutered. I have some friends at work who have the same problem of strays showing up----they too get them spayed/neutered and shots and whatever else they need. They alsoare up to about 9, and the hubby has said "No more." I think that if you are not willing to let them go as barn cats, it is going to be very hard to find them homes. I'm not saying that you shouldn't try, but there are so many unwanted cats, and not enough people to adopt. I adopted a housecat from some people last year because they were going to take him to the pound----they were having a baby, so no more time for the cat. He is now a happy, healthy barn cat. He probably would love to be inside, but he's better off as a barn cat than in the shelter.
You can put up notices in feed stores and pet supply stores (at least in my area). I would ask a minimum fee like $20 if you place them on CL. That's not enough to be a hardship on people (if it IS a hardship, I'd be concerned that there's no money for catfood), and is a better deal than many humane societies for spayed cats. I SO wish people would simply take responsibilty for fixing their cats, then you (and the MANY other people out there who take in strays) wouldn't be in this difficult situation
I hope something works out for you and the kitties.
Thanks! My vet did all their shots including rabies, worming and exams in which a couple had ear mites for $20 per cat. The cat I just spayed cost me $70 and that included rabies and pain shot. They have low cost clinics in the city but a 2 hr drive is not worth it for one animal. Luckily the cats didn't come all at once but over the years. Posting an ad on CL for a cat with any adoption fee and you get no interest. Rescues want to help the ones on death row and I understand that but it doesn't leave a lot of options.
On top of the cost my dogs like to eat their poop (I know GROSS) and I have to worm them for tapes regularly.
