Last night, we let the girls out of their run to free range a bit. At first, they stayed closed to the run, and kept trying to eat my garden. Once they got more comfortable, they went further away from the coop. We kept an eye on them, only intervening when they got too close to the road or out of our line of sight.
We have a cat who has stalked the chickies before. The other cat (my albino who is an indoor kitty, has no claws) really is just curious about the chickies. The stalker kitty has been caught on multiple occasions being too close for comfort to the girls.
I kept an eye out for the cat yesterday, and he'd come up to me to be petted and did not seem interested in roaming chickens. Then, he decided he wanted to walk by the flock. At first, he was all nonchalant about it. Then he laid down like he was going to attack. My boyfriend and I are yelling at him (he HATES the cat), chickens are running and squawking, and the next thing I know, one of my big girls (an 8 week SLW) starts running at the cat. He ran away terrified
Also, does anyone do Instagram?
I'm starting up on social media and want to start posting pictures of my girls on there. @Taj_MaChicken
