Cat!

the cat more than likely was spooked up there by the chickens. Also please help that kitty down, its probably someones lost house cat (by size) and that cat WILL stay up there and starve if it doesnt feel safe to come down.

I sent two feral cats to kitty heaven this year when I caught them stalking my baby chicks...one was brazen enough to go into the coop...bye bye kitty, and I like cats...they can not have my chicks...

if they were tame, would have been easier (if the cat was friendly for it to find a new home) to just take them to the pound. If they were feral that's a different story entirely.

My girls were 12 weeks old and out free ranging. The feral cat came around and I was very worried and went outside. This cat is crazy and I saw him literally slap a coon one night!

I couldn't believe it when my girls all ran toward the cat and it jumped a foot in the air and took off as fast as it could! He was scared to death of those chickens!!!

That cat was my biggest worry during the day and I was tempted to shoot him a week before, but decided against it. Now I'm glad I let it live! I do still leave some food out for him as I have been for over a year now. Chickens are so COOL!

Had a mix Maine Coon cat in the big range. It would chase off anything encroaching on its home, including Rottweilers and other ginormous dogs. The neighbor's guinea hen flock was another story; the cat would oh-so-casually walk off in the opposite direction whenever they were around. But when he got old, he could get stuck in trees too. My current cat also gives our chickens a wide berth, however brings home all the rodents
