Last year me and my friend went down the st. in the woods(which is only a little patch of trees w/ a canal) and caught a wild turkey... W. our bare hands and chased it down! :cd We had just finished a new, big chicken enclosure but that's where the turkey is... Any way we have taken very good care of him: got rid of his bugs, fed him good, have a place to stay: But i was wondering of any ideas to make him more happy... Like food we can give him (he loves honeycomb cereal) or to make him enclosure better, Any help will be appreciated :DThanks!!

Yeah.
Freedom would be a good place to start.

Yep, likely illegal what you did. Likely too that wild turkey will never be happy and settled being penned up. The only humane thing to do is turn it loose. If you want a wild type turkey find a breeder and purchase some poults.

Agree that what you did is most definitely illegal. You'd better hope your state game and fish doesn't find out. I know ours has been prosecuting people left and right. Let that baby go so you don't have to pay a mondo fine/possible jail time. I work for a criminal defense attorney, I know what I'm talking about. We've represented a lot of people with game and fish violations.

I was hesitant about commenting but I agree that the turkey should have never been captured. But since it was "rehomed" and you started this thread for suggestions, I would suggest you research and find out what wild turkeys eat when they are in their natural habitat/environment. When you find that out, grab your friend ( the one that helped you capture it) and go into those same woods and get all of the food (berries, leaves, etc) that a wild turkey eats and pick those items and bring it back to the turkey. Gather enough food for a week. Continue to do this weekly for long as the turkey is in captivity. You probably won't find any honeycombs.

Sad thing about it, it probably won't be able to go back into the wild after being in captivity, since it was captured last year.

Good luck.

Well we decided to let him go about a month ago, but on the way back to our house he followed us... We even left food for him where we let him go but he didnt eat any of it, he just turned and followed.

Kuntry gurl, yes, me and my friend went in the woods and got some berries for him to eat and we collect grass for him and everything... Thanks for all the Help :D
