I'm a new Chicken Mom and have 4 Blue Cochin Splash Bantams and one Wellsummer- all hens. They get along well are incredibly sweet and they are pretty used to me. I feed them dried worms from my hand but I'd also like to get them used to being held. I think this would come in handy when I need to examine them plus it would also be fun! My problem is when I try to pick one up they get very upset. I hate to force them but maybe I need to the first few times. They are 5 months old. And since the Bantams have demonstrated they are good flyers I'd also like to be able to clip their wings for safety reasons . I live in a subdivision with 4' fences. I would let them free range more if their wings were clipped .
