We're so happy you've decided to join us
So happy you have joined our flock.Hi, sorry for the delayed response….life….it happened. After much delay, I was gifted with two adult India blue peahens. Coincidentally, from a generous lady where all of the others came from originally… what are the chances of that? After reading much here, we built a peahen enclosure , with a door. They arrived on December 14. It has been eye opening, and challenging. it was bitter and cold On and off, and we ended up putting tarps on the sides, rolling them up during the day, and enclosing them at night. They also have a chicken low voltage low temp rubber mat under hay we have in the roosting area.Hi! I just joined a couple of days ago.
We were adopted by a peahen this past March. Apparently they won't stick around if there's not enough food, and we are generous feeders, mostly to compensate for what the wild birds get.
It sounds like you found the Peafowl forum, great, right? I learned a lot.
And Welcome!![]()
I don't know anything about peafowl, however I'd wait until mid-spring to consider buying a new male. If he is around, I'm sure he will "find" your females come breeding season.Hi, sorry for the delayed response….life….it happened. After much delay, I was gifted with two adult India blue peahens. Sa thing is… I now have not seen the male peacock (reason we got these birds to begin with) since December 12. So now, I have 2 hens, and no male. I’m going to make a decision on getting another male soon. Some neighbors, a mile away, say they have seen him, we have not seen, or heard him. Siggghhhh. I spend time daily looking, and playing peacock sounds, hoping he will hear, if he’s around, to draw him in. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks so much!
Cathy.
