Cats after chickens?

Yes! My own cat will stalk the chickens when they are in the back woods looking for bugs. My nala went after on of the big pullets, but I stopped her before she reached the one she had her eye on. The cats left them alone when inside the house, outside is another story. Both cats must be in before I free range.

The cats can scratch and the scratch could get infected.

We have 3 cats(one an accomplished birder) and 1 feral that half-lives with us. I never worried about the three that belong to us because the chickens seemed to put them in their place pretty quickly. The feral was dead set on the idea of chicken dinners for a few weeks, but even he gave up after learning what a fuss chickens make if you get too close.

Doesn't hurt that my sebright hen's sole purpose in life is to be on the lookout for cats, either.
