Cats and Chickens?

Quote:
Your cats are not going to run away. Ever heard of the old saying "feed a stray cat and it wont leave" It is true. Since your cats are fixed that will also eliminate the need to wander off. I have 2 males and 4 females (all spayed/neutered) on my farm. They are great at rodent control and live peacefully with the chickens. Actually they will make wide sweeps to avoid the chickens. All of my cats were ones that showed up at my farm, except for 2 females that I took in from an abandoned farmstead. I have tamed all but one (and she has a strict no touch policy), she will come when called but that is it.

Enjoy your cats and thanks for caring so much! cats are not disposable! I bet that you will be able to love on them in no time.

Truly feral cats avoid human interaction, stray or untamed cats are not feral, they are just not used to human interaction and can be socialized with patience.

Here is the family barn, cat," Lucky".Before he was fixed,he used to stray. Then he got hit by a car(broke his pelvis)the day after being neutered. He was in a cage my son in law built for him,(about 4x6 ft)...he was in it for 6 wks.The vet said to keep him confined and he would heal.He is fine now, stays close to home and is climbing trees and running around. He is the sweetest cat.My sil found him last year,he was just a baby. The barn has a bathroom & heater in it.Thats where "Lucky " lives. He has a little pet door that he can come and go as he pleases...
